Happy Easter!

Easter, of course, has nothing to do with bunnies.

But I have happy memories of Easter Egg hunts when I was a kid.

Lots of times, I wish that I could turn the clock back to those happier days.

Last night around 10:00, I made a trip to the porcelain potty.

You can guess why.

I got there in plenty of time, but when I started to get up to return to bed, I fell.  Not good!  Especially in a tiny bathroom like the one that we have.

At least I wasn't hurt.  Except for my ego, that is.

Mrs. AOW had to call 911 to pick me up off the floor.

As usual, Mrs. AOW, the independent type, tried to get me up by herself - and hurt her back.

This was the third time that 911 had to be called to get me up off the floor.

Q: There was black smoke from the White House chimney again today.

A: We still don't have a Leader.

Great idea!

Some kind folks got together and spiffed up a nursing home by painting murals there.

Two samples:

More here.

Little things like brightening up the place mean a lot to people in a nursing home.  I know.  I was in a place like that for five weeks.

Trivia Quiz

New idea for my blog: Trivia questions!

Only one question today because Sunday is a day of rest - especially after a night out at the VFW:

What is the oldest corporation in the Western Hemisphere?

Time running out?

I hate to say it, but I believe that America's best days are over.

Our nation's budget messes are bigger than huge.

Addiction to technology

Hat tip to Adrienne's Corner:

Mrs. AOW avoids getting a smart phone like the damn thing is the plague.

I agree!

Everybody seems glued to their devices.

This can't be healthy behavior! And it sure as hell puts a cramp on having a person-to-person social life!

I get pissed off when I see people who used to be normal and fun to be around so addicted to electronic devices.

Picking on kids

I read a jaw dropping stories on the news every day. Here's one of many:

Cupcakes With Army Soldiers Get Kid In Hot Water At School

CARO (CBS Detroit) A 9-year-old boy’s birthday cupcakes sparked a school controversy that just keeps growing, with scores of people lining up against a school principal who found the cupcake’s topping “inappropriate.”

The boy was chided, and so were his parents, for cupcakes featuring little green Army men on the top.

Schall Elementary School principal Susan Wright called the parents at home and said the cupcakes were insensitive in the wake of the Sandy Hook school shooting. School staff pulled off the Army men before they were served.

Martial arts instructor Josh Brown, who teaches both the father and son through his school at Caro Martial Arts, is one of the outraged local residents.

“He’s a little 9-year-old kid and it was his birthday cupcakes,” Brown said. “These guys (soldiers) are heroes, and too many people are confusing them with psychopaths.”

Blaming someone else . . .

Goes only so far, and Obama has gone way past the point that blaming Bush makes any sense:

Teenagers are notorious for not accepting responsibility.

So is Obama.

The stroke survivors club

A while back, I decided that I might enjoy meeting with others who have had strokes.  What I miss most since having my stroke is the kind of social life I used to have.

Sure enough, my occupational therapist knew about such a once-a-month stroke survivors meeting at the hospital.

I went to my first meeting in January. That meeting was all about what Obamacare was supposed to do to help us. Nobody else at the meeting seemed the least bit concerned about how all these freebies would be paid for.  Besides, all of the supposed benefits discussed were sometime in the future.

The other night, I attended the February meeting. This time, the presentation was all about the county freebies that the disabled could get. Again, nobody else there seemed the least bit concerned how all this stuff gets paid for. And, at this particular meeting, people were bitching about needing even more freebies from the county.

The people at the meeting don't look like they're down on their luck. Just the opposite, in fact. Still, they are looking into just how many freebies they can get.

The above outlines what is wrong with America today.

I'm going to attend the next meeting, I guess.  Maybe they will discuss a topic that I'm actually interested in!
