I've graduated!

From this:

To this:

For big jobs, anyway.

This part of my stroke recovery has taken over 4 years.

Mrs. AOW is grateful, and my graduation has arrived in time for her birthday on Monday.

We are both looking forward to the day when our living room once again becomes a living room instead of a hospital room.

CONGRATULATIONS! The ordinary things of everyday life most of us take for granted become very important if we are suddenly deprived of them, don't they?

Keep on keeping on, sir. Persistence pays off, and improvement is always possible.

God bless! and HAPPY BIRTHDAY! to your Mrs.

Odie,
Trust me: I'm no saint!

In fact, I've been the drill sergeant here about bathrooming matters.

Maybe now that these matters are finally coming under control, I can quit being so much of a drill sergeant.

Back when Mr. AOW had his stroke, a medical professional told me recovery from a hemorrhagic stroke takes a long time -- but that the recovery is actually better in that more return of managing activities of daily living is expected and will happen.

Of course, at the time that she said those words to me, I had no idea that she meant YEARS!

I'm looking forward to reclaiming the living room!

Mr. AOW has worked very hard and continues to work very hard to make sure that his stroke recovery is the best that it can be. He's come a long way -- and I'm finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel.

WAY TO GO, Mr. AOW!!!!!
I KNOW that the Mrs. was sometimes overwhelmed...especially because your digestive tract remained so healthy! This is huge and a big relief for both of you. You've reclaimed a chunk of your life. WHOOHOO!

Yes, Great News. It's the constant little things that get you, not the big ones imo.

You know the original bucket brigade were the Secret Service taking the president's bucket to the outhouse, so you may consider yourself Secret Service and AOW as the President ?

Best wishes for lots more progress.

I can tell just by looking at the picture of the porcelain one that this was huge for you. Not even any handicap rails to lower and lift yourself with. Congratulations!!

AOW, did he clean up the ... or did you Miss Saint?

Odie,
I clean up everything around here. **sigh**

AA,
That's not our john but rather a Google image.

However, we do not have rails in our john. We do have a vanity sink, and it serves as a grab bar of sorts.

Also, a hemi walker serves as a kind of portable rails system.
