My youngest sister was a gymnast. A good one. She was supposed to be in the Olympics, but the United States boycotted the Olympics that year. A big disappointment for our family!

Why bother calling it a donut shop?
Mrs. AOW and I have been snickering about this story for a few days now.
Honey Dew Donuts will not be selling any donuts at one of their shops in Massachusetts!
There is more absurdity:
According to Honey Dew's website, its low-fat muffins contain more calories and sugar than many of its doughnuts.I'm not crazy about donuts.
For example, its “Low Fat Blueberry Muffin” has 430 calories, while in comparison, its “Chocolate Frosted Donut” has 280 calories, its “Boston Cream Donut” has 320, plus the miniature, round “Honey Dew Drops” are 75 calories each.
But when I see feel like eating a donut and see a sign that says "Donut Shop," I expect to be able to get a damn donut at a DONUT SHOP!
Why don't they call this place in Massachusetts "Un-donut Shop"?

Ban nerf guns?
Toy nerf guns — the weapon of choice for students participating in Missouri State University’s semi-annual “Humans vs. Zombies” live-action game — may be the latest casualty of irrational anti-gun hysteria at American universities....After I heard last week, that there is a rain tax on property owners in Maryland, I decided that we really do live in a mad, mad world.
According to the Executive Director at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation:
“All residents of maryland are a pollution source.”

Has he even seen the movie?
Joe Biden:
Was there even a woman in the movie Deliverance? Not out on the river, that's for sure!
And get this, Joe! Justice and survival were guaranteed by the gun in Deliverance.
…Biden talked about his work in Congress on the Violence Against Women Act when he brought up the Deliverance reference.Nothing like using a reference that makes no sense! Brain damage?
“After those guys tied that one guy to the tree and raped him, man-raped him in the film, why didn’t the guy go the sheriff?” Biden asked. “They don’t want to get raped again by the system.”

Picking on kids
I read a jaw dropping stories on the news every day. Here's one of many:
Cupcakes With Army Soldiers Get Kid In Hot Water At School
CARO (CBS Detroit) A 9-year-old boy’s birthday cupcakes sparked a school controversy that just keeps growing, with scores of people lining up against a school principal who found the cupcake’s topping “inappropriate.”
The boy was chided, and so were his parents, for cupcakes featuring little green Army men on the top.
Schall Elementary School principal Susan Wright called the parents at home and said the cupcakes were insensitive in the wake of the Sandy Hook school shooting. School staff pulled off the Army men before they were served.
[...]
Martial arts instructor Josh Brown, who teaches both the father and son through his school at Caro Martial Arts, is one of the outraged local residents.
“He’s a little 9-year-old kid and it was his birthday cupcakes,” Brown said. “These guys (soldiers) are heroes, and too many people are confusing them with psychopaths.”

What a load of shit!
Voter fraud in Ohio:
What planet are these people on:
Melowese Richardson is the Ohio poll worker who admitted to casting two votes in November for President Obama. Now, Ohio officials are investigating if she voted in the names of four other people as well and cast a total of six ballots in the 2012 election, according to Fox News. The investigation is part of a wider one into a number of cases of alleged voter fraud in Hamilton County, Ohio. Richardson says she filled out and submitted an absentee ballot on her granddaughter’s behalf, and her granddaughter has confirmed that claim, saying, “It wasn’t a big deal.”...They apparently view voting as something like buying a lottery ticket!

One individual revealed she was unaware that it was illegal to vote twice...

Outlaw everything!
You can't make this shit up!
This morning, on the local news, I heard about this:
This morning, on the local news, I heard about this:
Buying a ski mask isn't illegal, but could restricting their sale help prevent crime? As Duck says, "We are a sorry people"!
The notion is stirring debate among some Northwest Washington residents after reports of robberies committed by men wearing ski masks. The frequency of the robberies also has caught attention of police, who say one neighborhood crew is frequently purchasing masks at a local sports store for the express purpose of committing robberies.
"They clearly are a problem. Otherwise, we wouldn't see it being mentioned in all the reports," said Faith Wheeler, an Advisory Neighborhood Commission member from the Takoma neighborhood in Northwest.
[...]
On a Metropolitan Police Department-run listserv, Ms. Wheeler was one of several people who broached the subject of trying to discourage the sale of ski masks in the neighborhood, or asked legislators whether there are other ways to ban their sale....

A Day Out
This weekend, Mrs. AOW and I are going to the National Museum of Health and Medicine: information about the museum, which has a new location as of May.
Mrs. AOW has always liked gruesome stuff.
I'm not sure why.
She should have been an undertaker or coroner, I guess.
For as long as I can remember, she has been talking about "the babies in jars." She saw that exhibit years ago on a high school field trip. Video of "the babies in jars."
I am interested in seeing the museum's displays about the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. Mrs. AOW will be looking for those "babies in jars" and other gruesome specimens.
The new building looks like this and is completely wheelchair accessible:

Some People Will Steal Anything!
And work hard to accomplish the theft - even to the point of stealing "yard art"! The "yard art" below was fastened down and weighed 150 pounds.

A Reminder from George Carlin
Never mind some of his political views. George Carlin was right about environmentalists:

Rat Families Mustn't Be Separated
Are you kidding me? You can't make this stuff up! D.C. protects rats as wildlife that must be protected.
Can we apply this same kind of thinking (moving out entirely families of vermin) to Democratic politicians and their families?
But, please, don't move them - rats and Democratic politicians are the same thing, after all - to Virginia!
PS: I know of only one reason to be a Democrat. Have you ever heard of a good piece of elephant?
