1. What is the average age of a first-time grandparent in the U.S.?

2. Where did the idea for the first rubber swim fins originate?

3. When it comes to hybrid dogs, what breeds are crossed to create a Chiweenie? How about a Cock-A-Mo? Or a Scoodle?

4. Which state was the first in the U.S. to establish Labor Day as a legal holiday?

5. What animal is pictured on bottles of Yellow Tail wine?

Answers:

1. 47

2. In Tahiti, where American yachtsman Owen Churchill saw natives attach woven palm fronds to their feet to propel them through the water when they were swimming and diving. Inspired, he patented and sold the first rubber swim fins in 1940.

3. Chiweenie is a cross between a Chihuahua and a Dachshund; a Cock-A-Mo, between an American Eskimo and a Cocker Spaniel; and a Scoodle, between a Poodle and a Scottish Terrier.

4. Oregon, in 1887. It was followed that same year by Colorado, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York. Congress made Labor Day a legal national holiday seven years later.

5. A wallaby—a yellow-footed rock wallaby, to be exact. The wallaby is a marsupial native to Australia that is smaller than its cousin, the kangaroo. Yellow Tail wine is made in Australia.

I came close on number 1. I knew number 3 and number 5.
