It's a long story, but the end result was that Mrs. AOW and I slipped on the ramp here at home yesterday while we were rushing to one of my therapy sessions.
I slid out of the wheelchair and landed in the street on my butt!
Mrs. AOW flagged down one man on the street to help us. A few minutes later, a guy from India stopped here on his own because he saw Mrs. AOW running in and out the house like a crazy person.
We were so lucky! The guy from India was a doctor! He knew exactly how to get me back into the wheelchair.
We had to cancel my therapy session, of course. Too bad! The therapist had an electric stim home unit for my arm so that I can work on waking up my arm and hand at home.
I'm okay and didn't get hurt at all.
From all the lifting that Mrs. AOW had to do, her back is out. Big time! She may be suffering too much to take me to tonight's cruise-in.

Sigh that's awfull, A good thing this Indian doc stopped and helped.
Poor Mrs AOW, i know the feeling all to well.
Is there anyone else you both can rely on for aid in the house, so she can rest her back?
Will,
I might be able to call on Sharon -- except that she lives a couple of hours away.
The wheelchair accident yesterday happened so fast!
Like an idiot, at first I tried to get Mr. AOW up off the ground by myself. My efforts were a HUGE mistake!
My knees hurt too. I shouldn't have done all that running. Running and I aren't best buddies anymore.
Seeing crazy women running around doesn't make me want to stop. Glad you found that kindly doctor. I would think seeing a dumped wheelchair would have been a signal for all to stop though.
You two get well, and Mrs. I'll have to show you those back exercises I do for my back.
Odie,
Well, I was carrying medical equipment and yapping on my cell phone all at the same time. I must have looked distressed -- which I was!
Passersby on the main road couldn't have seen him on the ground as we live on a side street abutting the main road and my car was in the way.
Send me the back exercises!
Aye-yi-yi. May you both recover soon!
Well, I'm very glad that no serious harm was done! Better luck next time!
You must be very thankful that doctor from India was at the right place at the right time. You still seem very positive despite what happened based from your writing. That’s a pretty good sign! The burdens of disability wouldn’t affect you that much or not at all with that kind of attitude! I knew you wanted jokes, sorry for being too serious! Haha!
P.S. I hope Mrs. AOWs back will do better.
Thomas,
Mr. AOW and I don't always have a positive outlook. But we try to -- most of the time.
"It is what it is." And that goes for life in general. It is up to us to react in the best way possible to keep living life.
Thanks for stopping by! We do need words of encouragement here.
