Yeah, I'm up early this morning. Here's why.
Mrs. AOW's cousin has a backyard swimming pool something like the one below. Except that there is a built-in table with umbrella on on side.
This afternoon, Mrs. AOW is hauling me out there for an afternoon in the pool. It's a heated pool.
Mrs. AOW rolls my wheelchair up to the edge and dumps me in. It's sink or swim! Getting me out is hell, but Mrs. AOW's cousin is a Marine and strong enough to lift me if I'm stuck.
I do well in the water. As a kid in Southern California with our own pool, I learned to swim very early. I also surfed as a teenager.
Getting into a swimming pool gives me the chance to exercise my arm and leg more than I can on land. It's all about gravity!
Mrs. AOW is off the diet she was on, so maybe I'll even get pizza for dinner out there at her cousin's house. I hope so!
I'll sleep all day tomorrow after exercising in the water. I slept all day yesterday after last PT and OT sessions last Wednesday and Friday.
My next therapy session at the hospital is on Wednesday, so I have time to recover from all that exercise in the water.

Cowabunga Dude!
LOL! Mr. AOW is out and about on his scooter this morning. He's taken quite a little trip to a park about 1/2 mile away.
I'm so glad. This kind of thing is more like the Mr. AOW I knew before the stroke!
Fun in the sun! It'll be good for you.
BUMMER!
It looks as if we're going to get rained out.
**sigh**
Sigh, i hope it's only false alarm or a very short rain shower.
Sounds like a great day out and therapy , water baths are used in all kinds of revalidation therapies.
Hope everything works out great for you guys.
Will,
The rain has set in, in earnest, for the remainder of today and the next two days.
Perhaps next weekend?
Sorry!
Brooke,
My cousin works crazy hours. But the next time that both the weather and her schedule permit, we'll head to the pool!
So let me guess, you head for the table and umbrella and Mrs. AOW keeps you supplied with daiquiris.
Off topic to Mrs. AOW.
I got your note on Flickr.
Yeah, the old days of amusement parks. I take a lot of photos in Revere which used to be a spectacularly sleazy amusement park. Lot of sailors on leave ans such.
Oh to go back in time with the camera.
Duck,
I'm the one who guzzles daiquiris -- strawberry daiquiris. But not when I'm swimming.
A few years ago, Mr. AOW and visited an abandoned amusement park. Damned depressing to see because I vaguely remember that park in its heyday. Yeah, I'm speaking of Glen Echo.
That's got to be some great therapy. Enjoy.
